Barton Hills

Barton Hills is an attractive neighborhood because of the natural scenery and convenient location. The Barton Creek Greenbelt runs through the neighborhood, and Zilker Park, Lady Bird Lake, and downtown are a short trip by car or public bus.

The neighborhood's residents have ready access to hiking, biking, live acting and musical performances, shopping, and nightlife. They also can reach downtown and other parts of the city readily.

The area is safe and with access to a large park and top schools is a good place for young families.

Barton Hills is a favorite area for many in which to live and hang out, because of the abundance of green spaces and the proximity to some of Austin's best amenities.

The neighborhood is next to the Barton Creek Greenbelt and Zilker Park. The park includes Barton Springs pool and a botanical garden and sculpture garden. The park also has hiking and bike trails and playing fields.

Zilker Park is also where the Austin City Limits and South by Southwest music festivals are held each year, as well as the Holiday Trail of Lights in the winter, and concerts and theater in the summer. Some residents make substantial income by renting part of their homes to visitors attending the music festivals.

Barton Hills is conveniently located next to MoPac and Capital of Texas Hwy. and is close to the shopping, dining, and nightlife of south Austin and downtown. It is a pure residential area and there are few businesses or restaurants in the neighborhood, but shopping centers are nearby. Also there is plentiful local businesses and dining in other south Austin neighborhoods.

The neighborhood is safe and and residents have access to highly rated schools. Housing is relatively expensive because of the desirable location but still within the reach of many. Residents include young professionals and young families.
