Central Austin

Central Austin is one of the most desirable Austin regions to live in as it provides close access to some of Austin's most popular attractions: the Texas State Capitol and Visitor Center, the University of Texas, Bob Bullock State History Museum, the Lyndon B. Johnson Library, famous Sixth Street and the Warehouse District with their live music venues, world-class performers, restaurants, and bars, to name a few. The 2nd Street Shopping District gives you access to the latest in fashion, accessories, and home decorations.

Central Austin also provides plenty of opportunities for strolling, jogging, biking, boating, tennis, and golf. The Lady Bird Lake Hike-and-Bike Trail and the Shoal Creek greenbelt provide miles of walking, running, and bike paths. The Caswell Tennis Center and three city-owned golf courses are also located within Central Austin.

Central Austin neighborhoods are diverse. Downtown has high-rise condos and apartments. A few miles north, Hyde Park features century-old Victorian mansions. Head west and you'll find more stately mansions and also classic bungalows and recently built retro-modern houses in Old West Austin, Bryker Woods, and Tarrytown.
